neighborworks-memberNeighborhood Partnership Housing Services (NPHS) is funded in part by NeighborWorks of America.

NeighborWorks has helped homeowners across the nation avoid foreclosure through its network of nonprofit housing organizations that offer homeownership and foreclosure intervention counseling; public education campaign promoting the Homeownership Preservation Foundation’s Homeowner’s HOPE Hotline; and participation in the HOPE NOW alliance.  In addition, NeighborWorks America is the administrator of the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling program, awarding $307.5 million in grants to state housing finance agencies, HUD-approved counseling intermediaries, and local nonprofit counseling agencies for counseling, and $25.1 million in grants to state housing finance agencies, intermediaries, and local nonprofit counseling organizations to provide assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure.

What is the role of a housing counselor

Our Housing counselors provide advice on defaults,  foreclosures, and credit issues.  As a non profit organization, we often have knowledge of local resources, not readily available to the public, that may be available to you.  NPHS will work to understand your personal situation, and at your direction, will work with your loss mitigation department to discuss possible solutions, and determine what options are best for you.
